David Ornegri, LCSW

David Ornegri is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, School Social Worker, and Licensed Educator with over a decade of experience serving the Salt Lake County community. As the Director of Clinical Supervision for both Planted Healing and PLAE Therapy, David plays a vital leadership role in mentoring and supporting therapists across both practices, ensuring high standards of care and compassionate service.

David’s clinical work focuses on supporting adults through a variety of life transitions and mental health challenges. He is passionate about creating a brave, affirming, and inclusive space where clients feel empowered to explore their identities, heal from trauma, and reconnect with their strengths.

His therapeutic approach is grounded in warmth, collaboration, and a strong belief in the power of self-discovery. David draws on a variety of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Grief & Loss support, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

David earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Social Work from the University of Utah in 2016. He went on to work for several years in public education, where he provided mental health services and advocated for some of the most vulnerable populations in Midvale and Sandy, Utah. He was honored by the University of Utah for his integrity, commitment to clients, and contributions to the field.

Originally from Miami, Florida, David is a proud Latinx, first-generation American (via Peru), and a fluent speaker of Spanish, Portuguese, and English. As an out and proud member of the LGBTQIA community, he brings a deep understanding of identity, belonging, and lived experience to his work. He is especially honored to support clients navigating faith transitions, cultural identity, and the complexities of being part of marginalized communities.

David approaches every client relationship with empathy, grace, and authenticity—meeting people where they are and walking alongside them on their path to healing and transformation.
